Roughly 6ft high graphic “mountain” base with prominent ram perched atop. Covering the non-functional fountain, this element utilizes the space’s height and central location as a focal point. Lettering on the front face is visible from entry room and serves as a strong memory-making photo opportunity. Graphical faces with interesting images and text around the remaining five sides celebrate the CSU spirit in a large and memorable way.
CSU Ammons Hall—Admissions Experience
Ammons Hall is the home of Colorado State University’s admissions department and experience. Located on the “Oval” of the original campus area, the building is historical and steeped in CSU’s past. It was home to the women’s building in the 1920s and has served many functions. Today, it is often the first impression for thousands of prospective students and families as they consider their college choices. It’s an important impression that had never been conceived cohesively and robustly.
The re-envisioned Ammons Halls experience will create emotional connections, based on information sharing and human connection. The Hall’s visitors will see, read, and experience their introduction to CSU in ways that support their tours and overall application and college selection process. The physical spaces will reflect the vision and visuals of the entire university. They will celebrate and communicate CSU’s welcoming, safe, and enriching spirit to enable students and their families to envision their future as a part of Colorado State University.
The Hall will be a useful tool as part of a brief student visit to CSU, yet also clearly be understood as a resource for return visitation, whether on the same day or in the future. While not a “museum” of Colorado State University, the spirit of the displays will balance championing the university’s accomplishments of everyday students/faculty, as well as sharing direct and relatable practical experiences of fellow students.
